Helios Solar Powered Aircraft
BackCompilation of test flights. Pathfinder Solar Plane preceeded Centurion. Pathfinder turned into Pathfinder+ by removing the original center panel and replacing it with a panel that was about 48 feet in length. Centurion turned into Helios Prototype, which turned into Helios and Helios with a fuel cell. The difference between Centurion and Helios prototype was removing the center panel and adding 2 new center panels. Helios flew with 5 pods and had a full solar array. The fuel cell version was made by removing the center pod and replacing it with the fuel cell pod. That is the one at the end of the video.

Yes, this aircraft went on several day time test flights - problem was they launched the first passenger service as the worlds first overnight 27mph flight from New York to London and it crashed minutes after sunset - massive fail (the bloke who's singing on this video was singing it live whilst testing the plane....and he was playing the piano....whilst shining a torch onto the wings to gain speed) NICE

When operating, it is almost non polluting.
But just think about how many hundred tons of water and chemicals are used in the batteries and heat converters production line...
Unfortunately, solar power is all but non polluting

do any of you know that this project failed after it went too fast, it literally broke up in the air and crashed into the pacific ocean?
the thing is this prototype can only go under 27Mph or it will crash
