Gingrich is considered to be a "genius" of sorts by many self-indentified conservatives. Unfortunately, this is only because conservativism, in general, has anti-academic tendencies. As a result you don't see too many conservative academics. Gingrich breaks this mold. He has a doctorate in history and a disdain for lawyers, many of whom become career politicians. The problem is that you can't honestly be an ethical academic & STILL cling to conservative principles.

Doug Ross, who talked to the LA writer, writes that Obama said at the party "Israel has no God-given right to occupy Palestine" "plus there's been genocide against the Palestinian people by Israelis" and everyone cheered.
