this was a nice, fun watch. with all of those 'speed runs' where people are trying to beat a game as fast as possible, it's nice to see someone pretty much doing the opposite; dying in a game as fast as possible. it's quite grand.

I dislike speedruns myself as well, especially of games I've never seen before. Some of these deaths, you can't help but laugh. Some of these games can be so brutal that the best thing to happen to you in them is to intentionally get owned. Very fun video as many of these are games I've never seen before.

What I think is the funniest K.O. in this video was in "Mystery of Atlantis." The game has some nice music, but I thought the song when you're defeated is funny, even as the poor sap got dumped on by one of the animals. Good music in Challenger as well.

Actually, this video is quite funny. There's a difference between owning yourself for fun and owning yourself in stupidity. I think this is owning yourself for fun. Some of these games (like Spelunker) are brutal as crap to dying in the game is the best thing to do because a game is so bad. I thought this was fun even for a guy who is very poor at reading/understanding Japanese.

I think what the original poster said is that games are supposed to be instant death, just like it was before. I DISAGREE with that sentiment. Arcade games made you die easily so they can take more money, and technological constraints meant video games had to be simple reflex games.
Those games are still available, as flash games, if you want though.
