I do agree about the age, but it also depends on how strong and mature the dancers are to concentrate, shoes are made that small though, a friend of mine, she's 16 and has size 3 feet, she gets pointe shoes no problem

Valid, but they're custom made in any size smaller than 5. Then again, pointe shoes are custom fit anyway, so a nonstandard size isn't quite as big an expense comparatively. All that said though: No matter how strong a dancer a child was, no reputable teacher would put a dancer who was still developing bone structure, into an en pointe program. It would open them up to huge lawsuits, liability, and almost every studio has insurance policies that forbid it.
