Deer Hunting -- BIG 8pt Buck Down!!! 156 B&C

Back

Deer Hunt - www.HUNTNGFOOTAGE.COM I saw this buck briefly 2 years ago. Back then he was a 10pt and I thought he was 4yrs old. Today I was sitting in the same box blind overlooking an oat patch and a road. The buck showed up, I turned on the camera, realized he was a BIG 8pt and decided to take him. I grabbed for my rifle as he was walking out of the frame, got a good rest, re-focused the camera, and took the shot. This all happened in about 1 minute's time! I would have been in a bow blind, but it was bitter cold, windy, and raining. Thanks to the storm, I went to the blind with my rifle to scout and look for a doe. Sometimes, decisions are made for a reason! deer hunting deer hunting deer hunting deer hunting

Hey, I have to commend you on this comment. I have never looked at it that way and respect what you're saying hear. I just think it's stupid if the people don't eat the animal then it's a waste.

How long do you have until you have to get the meat home into the freezer, before in spoils?

Depends on the temperature. No matter where you are though, gut it and open up its chest cavity right away so all the heat escapes. This is vital. Now it's probably different in the southern US states, but in northern Ontario it's not uncommon to leave deer hanging upwards of a week, or even longer if it's below freezing. I don't know how true it is, but I've always been taught that the meat tastes better if you let it hang for a minimum of 3 days.

Nice shot man! Usually we have to go find it because it will run about hundred yards!
