Took the words right out my mouth. Also, this is the first song I've heard from Marcy Playground besides "Sex and Candy", I wish I'd know how good a band they were before time.

Your roots in punk are all messed up. The Ramones and the New York Dolls are definitely staples of the punk genre but in no way are they the real roots of punk. Bands set up punk are bands like Blue Cheer, The Kinks, and Deep Purple. Those were some of the first bands to start using heavily distorted guitars which set up the basic tone for punk. But even then it was bands like Iggy and the Stooges and The Velvet Underground that powered the rise of punk

Oh I say this in response to the earlier conversations about punk rock history. Also I add that The New York Dolls should be more attributed with starting Glam punk instead, still a good band though.
