I was looking around at some videos of the in-game footage and the gameplay style is COMPLETELY different from Parasite Eve 2. I'd still love to play this though.

Agent1W: Waaay too loose of a comparison. Unless you find Aya as a female Cloud (she's more of a man than him XD)and Eve and mitochondrial creatures as zombies? This game is a "cinematic RPG." Albeit short, it's a masterpiece and movie-worthy. It's combat system was unique and the game took a much more scientific and biological take than Resident Evil. When I saw trailer for this game in a demo disc that came with my first PS1, I knew this game would follow me and remain an all-time favorite.

Yeah, well said. I was thinking FF in terms of the storyline put together(and the RPG elements) but the creepy mitochondrial mutations reminded me of those nasty viruses from RE.

It never occurred to me actually until you compared PE to FFVII how both Cloud and Aya have a FEW similarities in appearance. Damn you, Nomura... Parasite Eve was a definite risk on Square's part, because it was a venture into a genre that obviously isn't Square's strong point. I do enjoy RE's biological approach as well, but Square I think struck it deeper with fear of something naturally inside us that could at last rebel. Similar in comparison between Western horror and Japanese horror.
