i just tried his signature bass yesterday and its kinda hard 2 slap with that silver doo hickey on the strings lol maybe im retarded or sumthin but im just sayin

well watch this video and see how he holds his bass and where he slaps his strings... thats gotta help... if not, just play around with the position of your hand so it fits between the silver thingy and your fret board

Practice :] I saw this and was like Holyyy crapp. But then I watched it like 50 times and tried to learn it, and now I can play it. Give it a try.
