no, those odd-looking faces are merely due to poor skill of drawing every character drawn by the original cartoonist(Nobuyuki Fukuomto) has an big nose and a turned-up chin like this nevertheless, there are a number of Fukumoto freaks because of his genius in showing sophisticated matches of various gambles: mah-jong, poker, and even imaginary gambles of his own...

He is definetly not the best drawer, technically, but at least he has originality. Which is a great thing since so many weabbo anime freak fans in the US draw identically with no variation whatsoever, and even profesional American AND Japanese manga artists..its sad
