Recycling chopsticks in Japan

REPORT: 25 billion pairs of wooden chopsticks are used and discarded every year in Japan but no initiative has ever been taken to recycle them. Some ideas are getting their way but, first, habits have to change.

chopsticks are just japanese culture. too difficult throw away that. then we try another approach. 40% of forest in japan is human made.

we should all use washable chopsticks and cutleries. stop using disposables. i intend to bring with me my own set the next time i eat out in a fast food chain. when i buy take-outs i tell the server not to include tissue and plastic spoon&fork. i even bring with me my own bag for the take-outs...
