Back

Glenn Pew interviews Eric Raymond. Eric has been flying his battery launched solar assisted sailplane since the late '80s. He knows the road to progress doesn't come as bolts of lightning in time but through years of small steps. well, changing the batteries with hydrogen cells you have enough electric power to fly for long time.

Excellent stuff. It's good to see people like you doing this sort of thing. It wouldn't work here in Britain but I'm working on a rain-powered plane.

I made a plane that runs on nectar points, celebrity gossip and the sound of half assed, moronic audience laughter from weak BBC2 comedy series like 'Two Pints...'. Early test flights have far exceeded all expectations. I had some stability problems and a beastly stall characteristics initially but these have all been ironed out now that I've added a patented fly-by-wireless system permanently tuned into Radio 4 - very smooth handling, especially when Charlotte Green is on.

the invention was awesome..I think he should add a series of wind generator electric motor attached to the planes body so that as it fly it is also charging the battery..

Multi-Engine Aerodynamics 101, A windmilling prop is like attaching a parachute to the wing. Unless ur a pilot and shut one down you couldn't believe the amount of drag it causes, So its a good idea but would cause more drag than the amount of power it would generate
