If you learnt that Australasia/Oceania is a continent, then, you were taught wrong!!! The definition of a continent is a large landmass, separated by water. Therefore, oceania consisting of 14 countries, most of them tiny, cannot fit the criteria of a continent. Why do some people automatically think if there is a point of difference in US education, then the Americans must be wrong. Everyone should be completely certain what a continent is before discrediting an education system.

Antarctica IS a continent but has zero (0) countries so i think they they got that question the better than any of us would. Australia is the only continent that contains of only 1 country.

Which means; if there is lots of water between, it's a continent, BUT, "ideally" = does not exlude other factors.
Australia and Antarctica aren't even on the same tectonic plates.
