why the 8x8 grid?

Be monome ? it is a good idea. However, for its purpose, I must reconsider the address of OSC. why? To increase the number of the buttons is easy. But to increase the processing of the button is very terrible work. ...by the problem of the OSC address.

i have a monome, this is what sparked my curiosity about your grid. your choice of an 8x8 grid as a control surface suggested you either had one or were familiar with it, otherwise it would have been quite a coincidence. i am slowly learning to program for the monome within pure data, would you be at all interested in sharing the patch used in this video?

Really interesting... I'd like to trigger instances with a joypad... Thanks!!

I am thinking of the use of Wiimote at present. Using probably GlovePIE JoyPad, too, is good.
