America is going to turn itself inside out if it doesn't get its head screwed on straight about drugs. People try to ignore drugs or demonize them and the goverment just loves getting rich off it. Marijuana is just the tip of the iceberg. Let's stop throwing logic out the window, putting so much hate on non violent drug users.

yea i'm from uk people talk about it here, you know it would terminate the black market and resolve alot of crime, killings, gang wars, prostitution, but the thing is what our goverments proberly think is like how you suppose to sell heroin and crack and hardcore drugs like thatu know it reks peoples lives and its not really recreational

How do tobacco and alcohol companies continue selling thier products when they know, statistically, that the product causes not only bodily harm (cancer, liver damage etc) but also contributes to crime rates, car crashes, and violence? Maybe it's the big wad of money that keeps them quiet, and OK with selling it. ...

Prohibition only creates a black market. The only people making money off of the demand for drugs are people who are willing to break the laws (in more ways than selling drugs. Violence, anyone?) Make drugs legal and people who profit will be pharmacists who KNOW something about drugs. Ever met a guy selling cocaine who knows what the LD-50 index is? Didn't think so.

"ok fair enough, certain drugs can ruin peoples lives then, how is it logical that imprisoning a drug user is gonna make their lives any better? people who want to do drugs are gonna do drugs, no matter if its illegal or not." Well said, if the government cares so much about the people, then why imprison them, and not offer rehabilitation counciling? Weed should be legal.

You're so on the money. By the way, drug use is rampant in prison as well. Despite all the things they do to try to keep drugs out of prison, people still find ways to smuggle them in. Face it-this war can NEVER be won. Legalize all drugs.

Just like the war on terror can never be won...Its just a way for the govt to employ loads of people. The drug war employs hundreds of thousands of people. On the flip side if drugs were legal and sold at "dispensaries" like medical cannabis, the govt would have complete control over it. People want drugs, and thats not gonna change, so why not use that money to help America get out of the hole that just keeps getting deeper?

... When *did* the Gov't care about the people?
