You do know math, right?
Release point is 5 feet after starting point. Ok, if they start at 43 and you subtract 5, that would be......38? Maybe? Yes, no? Kookoo Kachoo?

And yes, it is still wholly debateable of baseball vs. softball. The original point (that you obviously missed) was that this study proves absolutely nothing about whether or not girl softball players being better than boys baseball players. Mens FP players hitting higher velocities kind of debunks the whole "girls are teh Roxxxx" argument some so eloquently have made.
BTW, if you go back, the quote clearly says "released at". It's ok that you missed it though. Illiteracy can be a bitch.

Good job at completely missing the point dipshit.
Read through all the other comments, and it all boiled down to page after page of "gurls are bedder". This "study" proved none of that.
"guys can do it better. congratulations, you figured it out." Read the other stuff before commenting next time.
Oh by the way, the 38 and 40 ft are the RELEASE POINTS. Girls usually release 2 feet closer than men, making their release point 38 feet, after they have strided forward 5 feet. Men move less.

1st off you need to calm down
2nd its still harder to hit a softball than a baseball.
guys can do it better. congratulations, you figured it out. can somebody get him a prize?
its still harder to hit a softball pitch than a baseball pitch. ask the male fastpitch players.
3rd a baseball is pitched from 60 ft. a softball is pitched at 43. you can't move the mounds just to fit your theorys.
but good try you moron

dang soft balls are harder to hit ahahahahah owned
cosmo341 (Saturday 22nd of November 2008 03:09:10 PM)
So, someone enlighten me. If softball is soo hard, how come the men that train for fastpitch do just fine against even faster pitching than girls will ever see?
Why is there no video of that?
Oh yeah, because that would prove without a doubt how flawed this study is. But hey, if any of you want to believe this proved anything, go on right ahead. You're the one who's going to look stupid.

"A world class female pitcher who throws a 68mph pitch released at 38 ft would allow the hitter .381 of a second to react, which equates to a 95 MPH pitch in baseball.
A world class male windmill pitcher who throws an 80mph pitch released at 40 feet would allow the hitter . 341 of a second, which relates to a 106mph pitch in baseball."
WHOOPS! That doesn't change things at all does it. What if this guy faced Papelbon and got blown up on 3 straight pitches too? Would that prove anything?
cosmo341 (Saturday 22nd of November 2008 02:51:37 PM)
Oh wait, silly me, I know why. Because if a Men's fastpitch hitter faced a softball pitcher, it would blow this test out of the water!
Or give a baseball player a month to train for underhand fastpitch motions! Or put some random softball player up against CC Sabathia? What would that look like? Too bad such a horrifically flawed study is given creedence by people. You have to be extremely naive or just an absolute moron to believe this study proves anything other than they made a flawed study

How about having some Men's fastpitch hitters face Finch. You know, the guys who have actually faced underhand pitching and have swings more tailored to fast pitch rather than the MLB pattern (yea everybody conveniently leaves that little part out; girls fastpitch and mens baseball not being the same). Men's fastpitch hitters are trained to hit at short distances, underhand motions, and different mechanical principles. They face pitching faster than any girl can imagine throwing.

How about haveing a softball batter trying to hit a baseball pitcher. Id like to see the results.
