It's very simple. The challenge of target shooting is to see if you can hit the target. The challenge of hunting is seeing how close you can get to the target. These guys are target shooting at game. Illegal? No. Unethical? Maybe not. Challenging hunting? No, its challenging shooting. They tried to make it sound like a surprise that the elk was undisturbed. No kidding at over 800 yards.

false for a shot like that, you need a mil dot reticle and some adjustable caps and ur good to go helps to have some hand made ammo instead of factory

This was a very spectacular shot but this should not have a place during normal hunting conditions. Also shooting at distance of 830 yards was like asking for trouble, risk of injury of the animal is too big. Hunting always was different from military sniping and I hope it will stay that way.

Thats not elk "hunting" it's elk killing. Hunting is the "pursuit of game" not sitting and shooting. The elk didn't even have a fair chance, technology obviously took over here and made it much easier for the person.

plz dont. i have had this discussion with another member. what do u hunt with bud, reply to me because i wanna know, if it is nething besides ur hands then get the fuck out. ill name a few peice of technology," long bow, recurve, matchlock muzzleloader, and centerfire rifles." those are all technology bud. maybe not the most modern tachnology, but they still are. im pretty sure their gun is not as sophisticated as u think. just higher quality then ur savage or steven's.

I hunt elk in Montana. That was a hell of a good shot. The challenge is .001 percent of the human population can make that shot.I know people that can't make a 200 yard shot and I don't want them taking a poke at 375 because of what they see and poking a bull in the guts.ESPECIALLY WITH ALL THE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO SHUT DOWN HUNTING. Let's promote fair chase..when they can smell you when the wind changes. Let's not make this a rich fat mans game...something that you guys aren't.

really? the scope he is using is a custom long range scope, custom for the caliber and ballistics of his gun, you range the animal, then adjust the scope for yardage and windage.. hold the approprite mark, in this one the 3rd one down on the scop was 800yrds.. and squeeze the trigger.. these long ranges scopes are so advanced anyone with a little but of shooting time can get one made for thiee gun about (4000 bucks) and with a little practice be capable of this same type of shot, now with a 308
