Hansen Takes Breaststroke Final

Back

American Brendan Hansen beat his Japanese rival Kosuke Kitajima in a sprint finish to win the men's 100-meter breaststroke final. The pair flashed down the last lap stroke for stroke, but the 25-year-old Hansen just got his hands on the wall first to win the gold in 59.80 seconds, 0.67 outside his own world record of 59.13. Kitajima finished second in 59.96 to take the silver medal and Australia's Brenton Rickard was third in 1:00.58. (WCSN, WCSN.com)
