Jennifer Hudson is amazing but this is truly Jennifer Holiday's song. She set the benchmark more than 25 years ago and no one has come close to the breath control and vocal delivery of Jennifer Holiday. She rocks!

donne0216 - You have to look at this performance within context. Effie (her character) woman is losing her man; her career and has a child by the man's that she loves but he's abadoning her. If you had all of that taken from you in an instant; wouldn't you cry, "scream" and plead for things to not be so??? It's a song for her life! This is why Jennifer Holiday's performance is now a legendary bench mark for delivery, character and vocal deliverance, which is true PERFECTION!
