Terry Hearn: Carp Fishing

Back

Terry Hearn is quite possibly the most famous carp angler in the UK. Fishing the estate lake at Eynsham Hall in Oxford he shows just why he appears to catch more carp than anyone else....providing he can get past the tench. After a couple of tinca's took his bait, right at the death a lovely 20lb+ mirror carp came along to appear in front of the cameras.

Okayyyyyy my wife has finally allowed me in the many years ive tried, to spend some of my own wages on !, da da daaaaaaa. Myself!.... Right the dilema i got is, i dont get paid much lol so get one chance only. Basic question as ive knackered me reubens. Reubens again or fox stalker digitals?. Ive never used the fox digital scales before as ive always had my faithful reubs!. Time for a change? Are the fox stalkers any good? Cheers.

Hardest thing about carp fishing for me is getting out of my bivvy and bed in the middle of winter is the rain at 4:00am but i love the entire experience of it even if i dont catch.... who cares if you blank got the rest of your life to try again, all types of fishing are easy in some aspects and hard in others all very different but yet exactly the same buzz! Tight Lines to you all. P.S what are your PB's (personal best fish) Mine is an 81.07lb catfish caught in france last year =)

finally some form of agreement with a carp fisherman, good luck to you! :) and too everyone else sitting on the bank sipping ribena while waiting for your rod indicator thingymagigy and all your high tech gear to start ringing is not hard!

mostly fly yeh but sea fishing of the shore and boats, done a bit of pike fishing with lures, favourite is either fishing for bass with lures or small stream trout fishing.

wait a second, just spotted this post, i am keen on fly fishing as well as carp fishing and i can tell you now, carp fishing is much harder to get a bite on a low stocked big fish water, fly fishing is all about technique and i can imagine for a beginner that can be tricky as i once found, but with regard to catching fly fishing is easy in comparison. Also your point about trees and wind, well, watch where you cast, and carp fishing is harder to be acturate, every aspect is harder.

what are you claiming is hard?? sitting on the bank waiting for a bite?? sounds pretty easy to me, tell me what's hard about it.
RupertTorp (Wednesday 19th of November 2008 02:06:59 PM)
it's so hard to fool, big old carp. thats why there is so much waiting, you try waiting weeks maybe months for a single bite, it isn't just a case of casting the bait out where ever and waiting. It's a matter of the right bait, right location and right conditions, therefore you need to be experienced to catch from a low stocked pit, you need to know about the lake, do research into the topography and swims. It's known for being extremely hard

i think what the dude ment was it's hard to get the fish to take the bait the right rig will do that and the bait ofcoarse but if you present a shabby looking rig you wont get a bite and will be there for days confused but i carp fish and always have, Not hard at all lol hardest thing to me about carp fishing is getting out of my bivvy at 4:00am in the pissing down rain and wind lol.
