I'm sure many of the biblical stories of people are based on actual people and events but blown to enormous proportion to glorify moments that will present positive and negative moral display. Just like in Greek mythology. Enormous improbable, God-like circumstances are added to the stories to make them interesting enough to pass down through time. Some people realize that these stories were developed by men over time and exist for shaping moral structure. 60% of Americans don't get it.
