The Weavers - On Top Of Old Smoky - 45rpm

Back

From my father's jukebox. This old record is in very good shape. You might recognize the same tune in "On Top Of Spaghetti". The banjo introduction sorta made me think that Kermit the Frog is about to sing his Rainbow Connection song. Artist name reads: THE WEAVERS And TERRY GILKYSON With Chorus And Orchestra Directed by VIC SCHOEN Here, I'm using my Sony CCD-TRV608 camcorder for better view of the Pioneer PL-518. Thanks for the posting. I also learned to play this on the guitar back in the early '60s...many good memories. There was also an 'alternate' version involving spaghetti and meatballs....lol...

Thank you so much for the upload. This song was the first I ever learned how to play on the guitar, and still a favorite to play.

I used to play this tune on our record player in the early 1950's; but it was 78 r.p.m. recording. I recall my mother admonishing me not to play it when my father arrived home: "You know your father doesn't care for that fast, modern music."

Brings back childhood memories and I'm only in my 30s. My dad used to sing this all the time and play it on his guitar. Thanks for the memories!
