My Artwork: Healing Mandalas

Back

This is a collection of my original artwork created in Photoshop using mostly a kaliedoscope filter. (Please feel free to comment!)I set it to the song, "When it's Cold I'd Like to Die" by Moby. Wikipedia says this about a mandala: "Mandala (Sanskrit maṇḍala "circle", "completion") is of Hindu origin and is also used in most Dharmic religions, such as Buddhism and Hinduism, to refer to various tangibleobjects. In the Tibetan branch of Vajrayana Buddhism they have been developed into sandpainting. In practice, mandala has become a generic term for any plan, chart or geometric pattern which represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically, a microcosm of the universe from the human perspective. A mandala, especially its center, can be used during meditation as an object for focusing attention. The symmetrical geometric shapes tend to draw the attention towards their center. Psychiatrist Carl Jung saw the mandala as "a representation of the unconscious self,", and believed his paintings of mandalas enabled him to identify emotional disorders and work towards wholeness in personality. " I put this to music to enhance the experience, so I hope you enjoy it. It's about four minutes, which is plenty of time to pause during your day, take a few deep breaths, and "connect to yourself", or whatever that experience is for you.

Your mandalas are beautiful and help to do what mandalas are supposed to do: expand consciousness. But the accompanying lyrics are about the contracting of consciousness into loneliness and isolation. Please post your beautiful art with more fitting music.

very good, symbols and mandalas are very powerful healing tools, you only have to look at these to understand that, as an artist myself I appreciate this very much. Thank you for sharing. Jean x

Excelent, except for the TERRIBLE lyrics... " I want to die, I don't want, I don't want, I don't...."

Yes. I agree. Of course, if the lyrics were all positive, we might not need HEALING mandalas at all.
