Yu-Gi-Oh satire banned?
BackA Yu-Gi-Oh parody was recently deleted, Is this a case of Copyright Violations V's our legal right to "fair use" for producing parody? Was youtube wrong to bow to the will of the Yu-Gi-Oh copyright holder in this case? Did it stomp all over the users legally defensible right to use this Yu-Gi-Oh material under "fair use" laws for the purpose of satire? Will they get away with it simply because folk like us can't afford the legal fees to fight this crap? Actually his series has kinda died, there are no new episodes being put out. It's for the best in my opinion ... if you're not capable of putting it out on a consistently funny and regular basis, then it's best to call the whole thing a day and let the series be remembered for the brilliant thing it was. You have to be geniuses who make a lot of money off it like Rooster Teeth (the creators of Red vs Blue to keep it going for a long time.

Hmm? He's working on new episodes right now XD;; He wanted to make a new Christmas Special but I don't think it happened ^^;
Though I wouldn't be surprised if it stopped, either, just that he posts up once in a while on LJ and says how it's going XD

And he's been working on those episodes forever. I don't blame him, he's got much more important stuff in his life to take care of now (like a wedding to plan!)
It's a far cry from when we used to see weekly episodes of brilliance. Once production slows down like this, interest is lost. Remember Strongbad's Emails.

I know; I just hate it when peope attack him; he DOES have a life, this is just fun, they should let him be XD
And I dunno how true it is but he said recently he's hoping to get back into regular updates soon; he didn't get his Christmas special done on time because his girlfriend was sick, bt he's workig on it now. We'll just have to see :D
But that's true, his popularities gone down a bit ^^; But he's still got the best abridged series out there XD

The real question is how can we say anything is NOT allowed to be deleted per laws protecting parody and satire, when we're posting it on a private website.
RyuukoNymph (Monday 24th of December 2007 10:12:05 AM)
Yes this is a private website and yes they definately have the right to put on and enforce any rules they please. However, they are using the LAW as an excuse to delete videos. They're not saying it's their rule, they're saying it's the lawyers' rule. And THAT is what we're protesting/discussing here. If they are going to be bringing the law into this, then we have a right as citizens to question the legality of the situation.
