CGRHD reviews SEGA GENESIS HIGH FREQUENCY controller

Back

Classic Game Room HD reviews the 3rd party aftermarket controller calld the HIGH FREQUENCY for the Sega Genesis video game system. This is a six button controller for use with the Mega Drive (aka Megadrive) and fighting games like Street Fighter 2. It has turbo, rapid fire, auto and slow motion features just like the awesome NES Advantage does. Replace your existing controllers at your own risk though, although not a bad MD controller this one lacks the build quality of official Sega merchandise like the 6-button controller that we reviewed previously. The d-pad works ok, the X Y and Z buttons are there and fit and finish is now awful. If you happen to break all of your existing Sega controllers, joysticks or gamepads then check this one out. Play games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Revenge of Shinobi and Vectorman with ease and super HIGH FREQUENCIES.

I have this one with a clear shell. Cool looking, but still not as good as the sega 3 button or 6 for that matter.

I picked up the three button version today. I like how you can adjust the turbo for the different buttons, but the bad thing is the d-pad feels a little weird.

Years ago (I'll say about 7 or 8 years ago) I went into the mall parking lot at night, as they used to have a flea market every sunday, I looked in the one dumpster, and I found this controller! I personally like it, and I have a sega 6 button (the later one with the urbo switch in the middle) and the down button on the dpad isnt that great, so I like the HF one a bit more.

I have that one with only one turbo. The buttons stick though. I spilled something in it years ago lol.
