Had this in my MP3 collection for years under "Terry Jacks". Knew him for "Seasons in the Sun". Got curious today why a female voice on this one. Now I know! Gotta Love Utube!

I was 10 years old when this came out and it used to make me cry, for what reason, at that age I did not understand and it still makes me cry today. It is sad and beautifully sung.

Brings back memories of simpler times.I was 8 yrs. old and my Dad bought the 45 of this and when we played it on my Dad's console stereo my two Sisters, my Dad and Myself would sing it to my Brother Billy who was 5 1/2 yrs. old and man his face would get so red. We would use whatever we could find to act as microphones and corner him when we'd sing to him. He eventually would get a kick out of it. I think we did the same thing with Billy don't be a hero. We were just little kids then. What War?
