i love levon too but "wheel's on fire" is as much fiction as non-fiction, you can't take that book seriously, there's contradictions throughout it...without robbie the band wouldn't even exist. *this and the love song are the best two songs on the yahoo list*

robin, Rick gave me a smile and a look that said "i know your not supposed to be here" backstage. He was much more personable than Levon. He was wearing a black shirt and i could tell he was starting to gain weight at that time.

Thanks for sharing this with us. Backstage with Rick Danko and Levon Helm from The Band, what a thrill! Rick was already gaining weight, that must be in the early/mid eighties, I presume? Did you have a (real) conversation with him, or what is only partying?

robin, it was 1983. I had them sign a Last Waltz painting my buddy painted and a Last Waltz album. We ate their backstage sandwiches and drank their Budweiser beer. Something funny was also being passed around.
