GRAAR. I hate it when people put talking at the beginning or end of these...the music is beautiful though, as always. I have yet to hear a piece by Joe Hisaishi that I don't like.

Zhan Li Jun is chinese. This concert is japanese or chinese? I love Zhan Li Jun, she is the best erhu player.

The song, "Asian Crisis" is basically about the asian crisis which basically means that asia is becoming way too white washed. What he's talking about is that his music is trying to convey the graveness of this crisis & the consequences it will come with. I watched this special on NHK. Nerd, I know. :] Hope that helped

Well, this is true for Japan at least. But since WW II people are striving to be more western. Blonde hair, color contacts, americanized signs, the tearing down of beautiful old buildings for new western style homes. Now, please don't mistaken westernization with modernization. I dont believe he's against moving forward, just against erasing what was behind us.

Oh, so by whitewashed, he means a loss of culture, tradition, history. It's a shame how that trend is happening all over the world. Even in America, some people feel that old ways and values are being forgotten. Not that I mean to take the view off of Asia, every land is distinct in it's experience. Thanks for the clarification.

oh yeah. it's really happening all over asia. compare korean songs from 4 years ago and now you'll hear that it's becoming more american. Chinese songs, gosh, 6 out of 10 songs have english in them, most of the time they're either misused or mispronounced...but yeah totally agree. we're losing our culture...X.X..
