Also blue cheer, iggy pop, they yardbirds. To determine the first metal song you must decide upon what you consider metal and noone will agree so one can only state that these bands were metal precursors. You can't say which one was the first outright

I've never thought of this as the first metal song, but it is a good tune. And people may have a point. It was released a year before the first Sabbath album.
