Nilgiri Mountain Steam Railway (India)
BackSee the Nilgiri Mountain Steam Railway, in Tamil Nadu, India. The Journey ends at Coonoor - 28km, 5616ft - main intermediate station on the line to Comatore from Ooty. Coonoor is at the site of the locomotive workshops as well as the top end of the rack rail. Trains must reverse a short distance before continuing their climb to Ooty. It is normal for the locomotive to be changed here with diesel traction being normal for all trains to Ooty, except on this film, which is STEAM! The journey begins in Ooty (Aka Udagamandalam) The ride goes through Wellington - 29km, 5804ft Aruvankadu - 32km, 6144ft Ketti - 38km, 6864ft and, Lovedale - 42km, 7694ft Starting at Ooty - 46km, 7228ft(2200m) Witness Indian steam, still running today!

India is indeed the Mecca for railway fans. Unfortunately they stopped using those Steam railways. But every country has the right to modernize, I guess.

The steam engine is still being used from coonoor to metupalayam , only the section between ooty to coonoor uses disel engine.

In Thailand all steam locomotive has been become to diesel but only special event the steam locomotive will on board again!
