Review of 'Who Was Jesus? Fingerprints of the Christ' by Dr. Robert H. Eisenman (Professor of Middle East Religions and Archaeology and Islamic Law and the Director of the Institute for the Study of Judeo-Christian Origins at California State University Long Beach and Visiting Senior Member of Linacre College, Oxford. He holds a B.A. from Cornell University in Philosophy and Engineering Physics (1958), an M.A. from New York University in Near Eastern Studies (1966), and a Ph.D from Columbia University in Middle East Languages and Cultures and Islamic Law (1971). He was a Senior Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Postgraduate Hebrew Studies and an American Endowment for the Humanities Fellow-in-Residence at the Albright Institute of Archaeological Research in Jerusalem, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were first examined.) "D.M. Murdock, aka "Acharya S," has written a really fine introduction to the problem of the Historical Jesus. She couches everything in the most basic terms, comprehensible to the layman, and lays out the problem and all the issues in a both really readable and digestible form. Her charts are insightful and extremely useful and presented in such a way as to make things immediately plausible to the general reader. I can recommend her work whole-heartedly for anyone on a world-wide basis who really wants to know what is at stake in approaching and coming to terms with the real person behind the literary image provided by those who created the story of 'Jesus.'" Dr. Robert H. Eisenman Author of James the Brother of Jesus and The New Testament Code http://www.RobertEisenman.com Acharya S is a scholar classically educated in archaeology, history, mythology and languages. Acharya specializes in religion and mythology, critiquing and comparing them, and providing unique insights into their origins. God is a human invention: The first human recording of God-like Savior born of Virgin mother and later being Resurrected from the dead is found in Egypt, 3-4,000 years before Christ. The Story focuses on Osiris, Isis, and Horus, reputably known as the original Holy family; the father, the mother, the son Horus originates in Pre-history, we can only date him to Egyptian times. The Story of the Egyptian Horus and has remarkable "similarities" to the Story of Jesus Christ. COPYCATS///////

"That's a ridiculous statement" ...Tell it to the Xian biblical scholar - I'm sure he'd love to hear your opinion.

"the gospels are in fact anonymous" - Dr. Blomberg "The Gospels are neither histories nor biographies, even within the ancient tolerances for those genres." - Dr.Crossan "According to Form Criticism the Gospels are more like folklore and myth than historical fact" - Geisler Xian bib. Scholars

"According to Form Criticism the Gospels are more like folklore and myth than historical fact" That's a ridiculous statement. Form criticism is the study of the literary forms used in presenting material. In studying form, you don't end up with "...than historical fact". "Historical fact" is not a literary form. The 2nd quote is more or less accurate. The first is misleading. Claimed authorship has always been the same. It was never an issue. The author's name was in the title.

some appear to deny Jesus, but what is important is omitted as always by humans... - the massage :) What he said is True. Again, the problem is that all what is written is being understood directly and here the problem arises...

This is laughable. She says this is a "scientific analysis," yet she doesn't know what a figure of speech is, such as cutting off your hands and feet and plucking out your eyes! Yes, she has exposed the secret truth! Jesus commanded us to mutilate ourselves! :-/ The "hate your mother or father" comes from the way you make comparisons in Aramaic given the lack of superlatives. The meaning (love me more than your mother or father) is expressed as "hate" them (by comparison).

Things like this really expose this woman as having no credibility. I mean, how can you claim to be a scholar and not understand idiomatic speech??? Give me a break!
Foolbuster99 (Wednesday 19th of November 2008 09:04:22 AM)
"idiomatic speech???" Is that an admission that the gospels are ALLEGORY, not history? Golly, I thought we were supposed to take everything in the Bible literally! Looks like it's not "this woman" who has no credibility and totally lacks in understanding. You don't even know your own CULT beliefs!
OgeronimonominoregO (Wednesday 19th of November 2008 09:29:25 AM)
You don't know what a figure of speech is either? Look it up.
Foolbuster99 (Wednesday 19th of November 2008 09:07:43 AM)
"This is laughable." Yes, you're right - what you say next IS laughable. First of all, you don't even know that people HAVE cut off their hands/nuts in the name of God/religion. Ever heard of Origen? Islam? How about the Inquisition - even worse things have been done in Christ's name. Why would Jesus even bring up such gory garbage? And why would anyone with half a brain follow such a guy saying such crap? The rest is simply pedantic blather.
