Almost, it was built for prayer and attonement for the deaths of the 58,000 people killed during the Franco-Prussian war 1870-71.Building started in 1876 and was completed in 1914 ( the french have long lunches) It is stunning and I was lucky enough to be there this week on holiday, even my 7yr old daughter thought it was amazing inside and she find churches very dull.

The beginning location of this video is Notre Dame and ends atop the hill Montemarte-Sacre Coeur which overlooks the city of Paris. The basilica was built to pay homage to the brave memn and woman who died in World War II (?) protecting freedom. Built of white stone, Sacre Coeur glows in the sunlight and is illuminated in the evenings with spotlights.

On an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris. The film was limited for technical reasons to 10 minutes; the course was from Porte Dauphine, through the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur. No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit.
